The impact of digitalisation, and in particular social media on the field of education and worklife

In this study the author examines the impact of social media on the field of education and worklife. The article will summarise the basics of digitalisation, the nature of the Internet and social media in particular, and finally discuss the phenomena that have emerged in the information society and that are having an increasing impact on the world of learning and work. These include the always online state, the visual turn, the multitasking, a shortened attention span, the fear of missing out, the transformation of human memory use, the strengthening of creative processes, the experience of flow, rapid orientation, greater autonomy or even the ability to live with mistakes.Author Biography
Szűts Zoltán
Szűts Zoltán média-, digitálispedagógia- és információstársadalom-kutató, habilitált egyetemi docens. Az Eszterházy Károly Katolikus Egyetem Pedagógiai Karának dékánja, a Neveléstudományi Doktori Iskola programigazgatója. A Kecskeméti Piarista Gimnáziumban érettségizett, az Eötvös Loránd Tudományegyetemen diplomázott, doktorált irodalomtudományból és habilitált szociológiából, illetve az Eszterházy Károly-egyetemen is doktori fokozatot szerzett neveléstudományból. A világháló metaforái (Osiris, 2013), az Online (Wolters Kluwer, 2018) és A digitális pedagógia elmélete (Akadémiai K., 2020) könyvek szerzője. Könyveit, tanulmányait és konferenciaközleményeit eddig már majdnem 1000-szer idézték. Eddig mintegy félszáz tudományos előadást tartott, és közösségi média kommunikációs tanácsadóként is dolgozik.
